About The Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon boat racing is the fastest growing water activity in Britain today – as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and our helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!

The 16th Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival takes place on Saturday 10th September 2022 on the River Cam at Fen Ditton and more than 40 teams are expected to compete over the 200m race course, watched by several hundred spectators. The Ditton Meadows location offers a superb venue and, as well as the exciting races, a range of bankside entertainment, food stalls and fun activities guarantee a fabulous day out for all the family! Read more about entry levels below.

The Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival is mainly aimed at corporate groups who are looking for a great team building day out whilst supporting and raising money for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust. Upon entering, you can choose to upgrade your entry package to include a donation to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust or you can simply raise funds in your own way! Read more about the charity and how you can help below.

You may have noticed a few changes here… Gable Events (the previous festival organisers) have now closed as the owners have retired. We have purchased their equipment and are taking on many of their annual events like this one. We cannot wait to deliver this amazing event again and we hope to see you all there!! Let’s make this year the one to remember and raise as much money as we can for the local charity. Want to find out more about NewWave Events? Visit https://newwave-events.co.uk/ or simply give us a call on 01536 674 748, we would love to introduce ourselves!

Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust

Help our hospital

Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) is the dedicated charity supporting Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals. Thanks to the immensely generous support of our donors, Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals can provide a level of patient care beyond that which can be delivered by NHS funding alone and make projects happen sooner or to a greater degree than might have otherwise been possible. Charitable donations fund high-tech equipment, specialist staff, extra comforts and vital research to find potential cures and help save lives locally, nationally and worldwide.

Every year, on average 1 million people visit the hospitals, with 18,000+ transport movements on and off the campus, daily. Addenbrooke’s has been treating and caring for patients, every day, since its foundations were laid in 1766. We want to help make this excellent institution even better, but we need your support.

Our mission to make things even better needs your support to keep innovation, advances in technology and excellence flowing through Addenbrooke’s’ veins.
